Unique Smiles for the third year and with the authorization of the Ministry of Education, has invited all the public and private schools of Cyprus to be part of the Rare Disease Day and entering the “Wear the you care” event. More than 100 private and public schools are participating this year and the children will be wearing their jeans, as a symbol of genes.
This is not part of the Blue Ribbon event. We do not fundraise. The purpose of the event is towards awareness.
We provide a 10 minute video, that we have prepared, with information about Rare Diseases, the status in Cyprus and our Association. It is very important for students of all ages to be aware about rare diseases. We will also send promotional material to the schools to be distributed and we encourage them, during the class of Biology to dedicate part of the lesson on the field of the genetics. At the end of the day we request from the schools to raise their hands as a support to the Rare and forward the photo material back to us.
Many schools are dedicating their own events that they organise to raise awareness.
